Meet Timu, a 75-year-old grandfather from the Khiamniungan tribe on the Nagaland Burma border. What began as a struggle for survival has become a story of dignity, healing, and craftsmanship. Through basket weaving, Timu restored his health, overcame critical surgeries, and created a livelihood that supports his wife and children.
In Ningshet village, Timu’s home, is celebrated for its mastery in bamboo craft. Each basket begins in the wild, where bamboo is gathered, split into fine strips, and polished to perfection. The process is slow and demanding, but the result is timeless as raw bamboo is transformed into elegant, functional art.
